NURS 322.2 TR: Experiential Learning in Global Health
Course meets during May Term 2027 with 90 minute meetings on May 10, 12, 17, and 19, 2027. Specific times to be announced.
Travel occurs during May Term 2027 from May 22 to May 29, 2027
Explore Central America’s second largest country, Honduras, as you study global health issues specific to high-risk populations and contribute to the learning community through individual research projects. This 8-day trip over May term is a requirement of the NURS 322 2 TR course and is led by ̽»¨Ö±²¥ professors Dr. Beth Gotwals and Dr. Jacqueline Gannon. The ̽»¨Ö±²¥ Nursing program has been impacting health through a local faith-based organization—Healthy Ninos Honduras—since 2009. Consider joining our spring break 2025 team!

Cost
- Self-Pay Travel Cost (Students who are not Elevate Credit Eligible): $2,800
- Your Out-Of-Pocket Cost After Elevate Credit has been Applied (Valued at $2,800 for eligible students): $0

- Eligibility: 2.0+ GPA, completed two consecutive semesters at MU, valid passport, completion of steps 1-2 in AMOS Travel Portal, students are not required to be nursing nor public health majors to participate.

TENTATIVE Itinerary
All the landmarks mentioned in this itinerary will be visited. Some changes may be made in the order they will be visited.
Day 1: Fly from the US to Honduras
Day 2: Visit facilities, Nutritional Center and prepare supplies for the week. Visit a local waterfall.
Day 3 to 6: Serve in the local community with Medical & Construction Brigade at various locations in Comayagua
Day 7: Fly from Honduras to the US
